HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY
CHIMNEY SWEPT?
The frequency will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, frequency and duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, type of chimney.
Depending on what your chimney is used for will ultimately give you the answer to this question. It is recommended that you sweep your chimney every quarter during the burning season for wood burning stoves while sweeping the chimney for smokeless coal and gas fires should be swept at least once a year.
In the event of a chimney fire your home insurance company will ask for proof that you have maintained your appliance and chimney regularly by using a registered chimney sweep.
